Hi Dot,
No matter what I do, I can't seem to view the photos of many projects: ie: ribbed neck/face warmer.
My computer is set to view all pictures.
Any other hints would be great!
Thanks | |

Wow, this is very stylish! I bought some sport weight Red Heart yarn and a crochet hook today and I'm going to make this! Can you tell me what brand of yarn you used?

My husband has been asking me to make something like this for him. I'm so glad I found this pattern! I think I'll make one for myself too. Thanks!

My husband wants a neck warmer for quading in the snow he fins a touque makes his helmut painfully tight! So I am going to give this a whirl. Couldn't resist your little gadabout bag might try in a fuzzy or eyelash yarn! Great way to use up bits! Love your site Dot! Keep on hooking!

This is such a cool idea! I hate it when I can't get a scarf to stay over the bottom of my face when it's extra cold. Problem solved!

I have an idea on how to make it cover the shoulders:
Extend the starting ch then use dc for the shoulder part, still crocheting in BLO.
I would try it out but no hooks or yarn around that isn't already being used.
Just an idea that hit me when I read Brenda's question.

Hi Brenda, I love hearing that people are learning from using my patterns. This was a fun project for me to make. I don't know how to adjust it to fit over your shoulders, sorry, but if you figure it out, I hope you'll share with us.

Hi Dot,
Love your patterns and have learn so much from you. I have made this ribbed neck warmer and was wishing that it was much wider at the bottom so that it would cover the top of my shoulders. Could you please give me some ideas on how to do this?
Thank you. | |

Hi Kristen. Welcome to crochet. I'm so glad to know you're enjoying my patterns. This neck warmer is very stretchy and even made with 4 ply worsted weight, if you worked in the back loops of every stitch, it should be stretchy. The beauty of this pattern is that you can add rows to make it fit anyone you want, so if you need to make it bigger, just add more rows. Congratulations on having a son interested in learning crochet. Tell him I said "WAY TO GO"! That must be exciting for both of you.
You can always email me through the "contact me" link on the front page, just below Spike's picture, if you need my help. I'm never too far from my keyboard and I always try to help with crochet questions.
Happy holidays to you and yours.

Hi Dot,
I am new to crochet and have truly enjoyed looking at your patterns. I am attempting to make the ribbed neck/face warmer with my seven year old son ( he is learning also ). I started out using 4ply worsted wt and an H hook because i crochet loose. Is the sport weight stretchy? The one we are making just fits around his neck. Thanks for sharing your work - it's amazing! Peace, Kristen

Hi Barbara, you're welcome. What a great idea! How nice of your to do that.

Thanks for this great pattern. I am making them in black and forwarding them to our troops in Iraq. It can get very cold there, and the fact that these neckwarmers can double as face protectors and earmuffs is GREAT!
THANKS .... | |

What a great idea, I am going to try it. It is so hard to wear a hat with long hair, for me anyway, as I always have it in a ponytail. So this is wonderulf.
Have a wonderful 4th.
Tell Spike Arf.

Thank you CountryLady. Did you see what Alice said about how they wear them in Italy. She said long haired ladies wear them as hats with their hair hanging out the back. With your long hair, you might want to try one for yourself.

Love this, will be making it for my nieces, as long as it is in black they will wear it, teenages what can you do. You do wonderful work. Thank you for sharing.

I'd take you up on it, but I'd have to go to the post office and that requires leaving the house and I'm just way too lazy for that. lol
Thanks Marvie. I hope you enjoy the patterns.

Another great pattern to add to the winter wear. Thanks, Dot, for all you give to us. You're a special lady!
 | | | Dot February 1, 2005 01:07 PM PST
Thanks for the information, Alice, I'll have to see if I can get someone to model it being worn that way. All my foam heads are hairless.

Here in Italy these ribbed warmers are also worn as hats, although they are mostly knitted (machine knitted) in horizontal ribs. They are just worn over the head, long-haired women wear them with the hair hanging from the back opening.
