Hi!
I first printed this pattern out 8/8/2005 and made several then for myself & gifts. Now that it's summer and there are so many pretty varrigated cotton yarns available, I made several more. I use and old CD on the bottom to give them shape. I get a 3/4 or 1 inch button on top of the CD on the inside of the bag & sew the button on to keep the CD in place.
Love these bags! | |

Hi Beverly, thank you. Sorry you're not able to see the pictures. I assure you, there is a picture on each pattern. It must be a computer thing. I use Explorer so if you're using Mozilla or something else, that might be why.

Hi Charlotte, thank you. Sorry...I don't work with beads. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Thank you, Lorraine. | |

Well, I went through you wonderfully understandable instructions. Everything is clicked and checked, but there's still no picture on the instruction page.

Dot, I love your crochet patterns. They are the best, you do wonderful work. I am trying to find a 3 x 5 inch Amulet Bag, square, maybe with beads. Why don't you do a pattern?? I know it would be georgeous.
Thanks | |

Dot,
I've looked through your page already, and you make such beautiful stuff:-) An online friend of mine, has already sent me some of the patterns that you do.

Hi Kim, thank you. This should work great for your little doggie outings.
 | | | Kim Wyatt January 29, 2006 12:39 PM PST
hey Dot, once again your patterns are great! I'm making one for my sister now, she likes small purses. But I'm also making one for me to use when I take my dog for walks. It's the perfect size to carry my keys, a couple dollars and some ahh doggie cleanup baggies (empty ones)

Hi Burn, I'm glad you like it. I use mine all the time. It's just the right size for the little things I need when I go out.

I can't wait to make this cute bag. I can already think of tons of uses for it. Perfect for short trips to the grocery store. Thanks for sharing!

This is such a cute little bag! I made one in a very short time last night. Talk about a great gift idea! Our sorority donates toys to the kids at KU Medical Center each Christmas, and I have a feeling I'll be contributing many of these bags to those kids!

I'm new to crochet. I just started two weeks ago. This is a great little starter project! Fast, and easy, and very wearable!! I made one this morning and want to make a couple more in different colors! THanks
I want to make a flower pin like Bobby posted. I'm gonna have to hunt for instructions how.

Hi Enna, you're welcome! I'm so glad to hear you're using the pattern for such a great cause. Good luck, I hope you make lots of money.

Thanks for this great pattern Dot! Several other ladies and I are making bags for donated gifts that are going to be auctioned for our fave non-profit in early November. The donated gift I'm making a bag for is rather small, so I've decided to use this pattern. I've already made a "practice" ditty bag and it came out perfectly. Thanks for such easy to follow instructions!
 | | | Dot September 14, 2005 05:03 PM PDT
Hi Bobbie. I'm glad your bags went over so well with the ladies at work. I can't believe you have to make a poncho to match the bag...it's usually the other way around, you have to make a bag to match a poncho. If you're planning on making one of mine, just let me know if you run into trouble with it and I'll be happy to help you. I'm never too far from my keyboard.
Happy hookin'. | |
 | | | Bobbie September 14, 2005 04:04 PM PDT
I made this lastnight and brought it in to work to see what the girls here thought about it. I ended up making a little flower and pining it to the bag once I got here. The ladies in my office loved it. I have to make about 6 more in the next few days for them to buy. I'm going to make a few different flowers to go with each bag so they can match what who ever is using them is wearing.
I also have to make a poncho (I've never made one before) to go with one of the little bags for a ladies daughter. Wish me luck on that one!
Thanks for the pattern Dot!!

Thanks Kitt, I love carrying mine to the grocery store. It holds all I need and hangs from my wrist so I don't have to worry about leaving a purse in the cart or weighting my shoulder down. Malling sounds like fun!
 | | | Kitt September 8, 2005 08:15 AM PDT
perfect for my tweener. also perfect for day and not formal nights.... CUUUTTTTEEE... just the right sizeto stash a cellphone, a coinpurse, lipstick/gloss or lipbalm and a small pack of soft tissues and you're set to go malling!

This is a great gift for little girls.
 | | | Dot August 31, 2005 11:55 AM PDT
Hi Rachel. Nope, it's 13". Lay the bag down, flatten it out and wrap a tape measure around it and it's 13". I've seen pictures of other people's dressed up ditty bags. They're really cute.
 | | | Rachel J August 31, 2005 08:57 AM PDT
I assume it's 3" around, not 13"...
I'm making a bag of saome sort and will be using the same closure/handle since I really like the idea.
I'll put some furry yarn in to make it more interesting, and maybe a pattern too.
 | | | Dot August 18, 2005 09:57 AM PDT
Hi CJ. Your LIttle Ditty Bag sounds so pretty. I'm glad you like the pattern. Thanks for letting me hear from you.
 | | | CJ August 17, 2005 09:42 PM PDT
I made one of these for my daughter using Sugar 'n Cream in Faded Denim Ombre. I finished teh last row in reverse single crochet. Wonderful pattern, Dot! Thank you! :)
 | | | Dot August 16, 2005 10:47 AM PDT
That helps, Tami. Round 23 is the "strap" round. You'll chain 30, then skip 2 stitches on round 22 and make 22 single crochets. What you end up with is a long LOOP that will become the handle of your bag. When you do the 22 sc, you then chain 4 (for the loop for the closure of the bag) and then sk 2 stitches and then do 22 sc to complete the round.
On the next round, you will do single crochets in each chain and in each single crochet around.
I hope this helps. | |
 | | | Tami August 15, 2005 09:23 PM PDT
Oh, goodness. I'm sorry. I meant round 23. Oops! Hope that helps.
 | | | Dot August 15, 2005 09:21 PM PDT
Thank you, Tami. glad you like the pattern, but I'm lost too. I looked at Dot's LIttle Ditty Bag and I don't see where you're talking about "ch 23". Am I looking at the right pattern? Let me know which pattern you're working on and exactly what round you're on and I'll be able to tell you what you need to know. (I hope). I look forward to hearing from you again.
 | | | Tami August 15, 2005 09:00 PM PDT
Dot, it is a great pattern! I am new to this craft and I am lost though on the last part of the pattern. Starting at chain 23, is that around again, or am I beginning the straps and if so how do I reconnect it? Sorry, but I'm so close to finishing my first project and I want to do it right. Thanks so much!

Dot, thanks for sharing this pattern. I whipped up one this evening, and have a great start on a second one!! I am planning to make several of these for my dd's girl friends. I want to make the bag just a little bit longer and buy a paperback book to put in each one. Thanks for such a neat pattern! Now I have a start on Christmas :)

Dot, thank you so much for this one!! I was looking for fun ideas for party favors for my dd's slumber party, and when I saw this - well, it's perfect! A nice, permanent "goody" that they can look at and always remember their first slumber party. Filled, of course, with lots of "girly" surprises. Thanks again!
