Hi!
I first printed this pattern out 8/8/2005 and made several then for myself & gifts. Now that it's summer and there are so many pretty varrigated cotton yarns available, I made several more. I use and old CD on the bottom to give them shape. I get a 3/4 or 1 inch button on top of the CD on the inside of the bag & sew the button on to keep the CD in place.

Love these bags!

Hi Beverly, thank you. Sorry you're not able to see the pictures. I assure you, there is a picture on each pattern. It must be a computer thing. I use Explorer so if you're using Mozilla or something else, that might be why.

Dot, I love your crochet patterns. They are the best, you do wonderful work. I am trying to find a 3 x 5 inch Amulet Bag, square, maybe with beads. Why don't you do a pattern?? I know it would be georgeous.

hey Dot, once again your patterns are great! I'm making one for my sister now, she likes small purses. But I'm also making one for me to use when I take my dog for walks. It's the perfect size to carry my keys, a couple dollars and some ahh doggie cleanup baggies (empty ones)

This is such a cute little bag! I made one in a very short time last night. Talk about a great gift idea! Our sorority donates toys to the kids at KU Medical Center each Christmas, and I have a feeling I'll be contributing many of these bags to those kids!

I'm new to crochet. I just started two weeks ago. This is a great little starter project! Fast, and easy, and very wearable!! I made one this morning and want to make a couple more in different colors! THanks

I want to make a flower pin like Bobby posted. I'm gonna have to hunt for instructions how.

Thanks for this great pattern Dot! Several other ladies and I are making bags for donated gifts that are going to be auctioned for our fave non-profit in early November. The donated gift I'm making a bag for is rather small, so I've decided to use this pattern. I've already made a "practice" ditty bag and it came out perfectly. Thanks for such easy to follow instructions!

Hi Bobbie. I'm glad your bags went over so well with the ladies at work. I can't believe you have to make a poncho to match the bag...it's usually the other way around, you have to make a bag to match a poncho. If you're planning on making one of mine, just let me know if you run into trouble with it and I'll be happy to help you. I'm never too far from my keyboard.
Happy hookin'.

I made this lastnight and brought it in to work to see what the girls here thought about it. I ended up making a little flower and pining it to the bag once I got here. The ladies in my office loved it. I have to make about 6 more in the next few days for them to buy. I'm going to make a few different flowers to go with each bag so they can match what who ever is using them is wearing.

I also have to make a poncho (I've never made one before) to go with one of the little bags for a ladies daughter. Wish me luck on that one!

Thanks for the pattern Dot!!

Thanks Kitt, I love carrying mine to the grocery store. It holds all I need and hangs from my wrist so I don't have to worry about leaving a purse in the cart or weighting my shoulder down. Malling sounds like fun!

Hi Rachel. Nope, it's 13". Lay the bag down, flatten it out and wrap a tape measure around it and it's 13". I've seen pictures of other people's dressed up ditty bags. They're really cute.

I assume it's 3" around, not 13"...
I'm making a bag of saome sort and will be using the same closure/handle since I really like the idea.
I'll put some furry yarn in to make it more interesting, and maybe a pattern too.

That helps, Tami. Round 23 is the "strap" round. You'll chain 30, then skip 2 stitches on round 22 and make 22 single crochets. What you end up with is a long LOOP that will become the handle of your bag. When you do the 22 sc, you then chain 4 (for the loop for the closure of the bag) and then sk 2 stitches and then do 22 sc to complete the round.

On the next round, you will do single crochets in each chain and in each single crochet around.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Tami. glad you like the pattern, but I'm lost too. I looked at Dot's LIttle Ditty Bag and I don't see where you're talking about "ch 23". Am I looking at the right pattern? Let me know which pattern you're working on and exactly what round you're on and I'll be able to tell you what you need to know. (I hope). I look forward to hearing from you again.

Dot, it is a great pattern! I am new to this craft and I am lost though on the last part of the pattern. Starting at chain 23, is that around again, or am I beginning the straps and if so how do I reconnect it? Sorry, but I'm so close to finishing my first project and I want to do it right. Thanks so much!

Dot, thank you so much for this one!! I was looking for fun ideas for party favors for my dd's slumber party, and when I saw this - well, it's perfect! A nice, permanent "goody" that they can look at and always remember their first slumber party. Filled, of course, with lots of "girly" surprises. Thanks again!
