I must say your design is so nice but it does look complicated to do. I hope to try it in the near future so can I inquire if and when I have any difficulty? barbara-ann77@

Love the poncho, could you tell me how to make it a cape!

Hi Sabrina, when it says to "sk 2 dc" it means to skip over the next 2 double crochet stitches. when it says to "sk sc and 2 dc" it means to skip over the next single crochet and the next 2 double crochets, 3 stitches all together. I'm glad you like my patterns. Hope you enjoy this one.

Hi Dot!
I'm just reading over your instructions and I'm a bit confused. What does it mean to "sk 2 dc"? Like as in skip over two chains of the double crochet?
Thanks for your time~ I adore your poncho patterns and hope to start on this particular poncho as soon as possible!

Dot, I CAN'T WAIT to start. I took a baby blue cotton turtleneck sweater from banana republic that I had for several years. It was starting to pull and stretch out and look dumpy. I unravelled it and now I have tons of this pretty 100% cotton yarn! I'm going to take one of the smaller balls and test it out and see how it looks until I get the hang of it. I will DEF let you know how it works out! Thanks for your quick reply! ~Jen

Thanks Jen. I loved this pattern stitch too. The trellis pattern is worked in multiples of 16, so just be sure you make a chain that is divisible by 16, plus however many you need for your turning chain. Then follow the instructions in the repeat rows, 12 thru 15. (I think) If you try it let me know how it turns out.

Dot, I LOVE this pattern. I'm not a big poncho person, but I would like to turn this pattern into a scarf. Any suggestions? ~Jen

I'm glad you figured it out, Laura. Looking at the instructions now, I can't for the life of me figure out what made me skip 2 that round instead of 3, but apparently I needed to do it to get the numbers to work out. I hope the rest of the poncho goes smoothly for you. This one is a little tricky trying to get those diamonds to line up right. I can't wait to see it when you're done. Hope you'll share a picture with your daughter modeling it. (((hugs)))

ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! I think I just figured it out!! DuHHHHH Do I feel silly!!!! I see that in Round 6 you only sk 2 sts, not the 3 as in the previous rounds. DUHHHH ON ME!!! Sooooooo sorry for bothering you! (blushing bright red I am!!!!)
I need to pay closer attention :) (a good lesson for me!!!) Thanks for your help! I will definitely post when I get the poncho finished! My daughter will love it :)
HUGS,

Hi Dot,
Well, I have been counting and recounting to see where I've messed up. Here's what I have. I have the same thing up to round 6 I believe. On round 6, I have 32 ch3 spaces, instead of 42. When I have more time tonight, I will start it over with some regular yarn and see if I can get my stitches to match up with yours, then hopefully I can fix it on what i have started with the symphony yarn. Thanks for the speedy response!! I am determined to figure it out :)
Hugs,
Laura

Hi Laura, I haven't had anyone else report a problem. You might be the only one trying it though. If your stitch count is right up through round 8, then you should be getting 265 scs in round 9. Did you have 53 chain 3 spaces at the end of round 8? If you did, then just make sure your putting 5 scs in each chain 3 space, and it should come out right. Sorry you're having problems with it. Let me know how you're doing. You're daughter is going to be beautiful in her new poncho. I know she's all excited to have you making it for her. I'm glad you like my patterns, I enjoy sharing them with you. I'm looking forward to hearing how this turns out.

Hi Dot,
I am working on this pattern, the Diamond and Trellis poncho. I am having some trouble with the count. I am done with row 9 and I have 200 single crochets, not the 265 that I should have. I have double checked my work, and I cannot see where I have messed up. Has anyone else had this problem? Or is it just me?? I am using RedHeart Symphony yarn which is so fuzzy, so I might be missing something somewhere. I love the look of the poncho and my daughter is eagerly awaiting for it!! Thanks for sharing all of your patterns, they are all very pretty!
Hugs,
Laura

Dot, The Diamond Trellis Poncho is so beautiful. I am not familiar with this stitch and I think it is so gorgeous. You know, you really are clever. You are teaching so many of us how to crochet by introducing these lovely stitches and techniques. Thank you.

Dot,
you've done it again. but I don't know when I will get the time to do all these wonderful things you design. just finished the bows and arrows poncho for my mom to give to a friend, used the yarn I bought for me so mom is replacing it with enough for my poncho and a hat (simply soft white)
thank you thank you for these wonderful ponchos
