Hi Lisa, you're welcome. I'm glad I had something that you could use. Adding the wire was an excellent idea.

Dear Dot, I've had trouble finding a hat pattern small enough for my petite head, but not looking childish. This one's terrific! I added a few rows for depth of crown & finished with a wire woven in the brim so I can shape it. Thank you for your creative patterns & generosity of sharing. --Lisa

I am working on it again right now. I am going to add a few rows of sc and try to make it longer. I'll let you know how it turns out. I am making it in a red, white, and blue verigated for July 4th. I love bucket hats and hats with brims, so this is perfect. If it turns out good, I'll send you a pic of it. Thanks for your help!

Trust me, It's not you, Holly. This hat is very small. I'll try to remedy the size issue as soon as I can.

Thanks Dot...I thought about doing that, but I think that I might even it out and add a few sc rows to each section of sc's....if that makes sense. That way the open stitches will still be in the middle. I also tried the EZ Breezy, and it was way too small too. Maybe its just me....lol! Bad luck today.

Hi HollyP, sorry you're Sassy isn't turning the way I think it should. Quick answer...add a few more rounds before you start the brim. Long answer, give me a little while to make this hat again and I'll see why (if I can) it's turning out too short. I think it's actually pretty small looking at the head model. It's one of my earlier patterns and I don't remember it much. I'll get back to you in a little bit. Hang in there, I'm here to help.

Hi Dot! I love this hat, but I am having the same problem that LizO had. I am on round 15, which I am assuming is the start of the brim because of the increase. It doesn't even come down to my forehead?! I checked my guage too, and used the RH super saver. I don't know that a bigger hook would do much different, because it needs more length to come down further on my head. Maybe if the sc's were hdc's? I am going to finish it off, beings I've already come this far with it. But if you know what I might have done wrong, please let me know. I love this hat, and I will be trying some of your other patterns as well. You have such beautiful things Dot! Keep designing! :)

Just finished the "Sassy" hat which I really like. I did add one more set of increase rounds to it for a little wider brim.
Thanks so much for sharing nice patterns with us.

Thanks for your quick reply Dot. I will try an L hook tomorrow to see if that might help.

Any thoughts when you get it back though would be appreciated!

Thank you, LizO. I'm stumped as to what might be wrong. I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way it was supposed to. I know how frustrating it is to make a hat and have it turn out too small or too large. I've been there, done that, myself. I don't have the hat here now, so I can't measure it, but as soon as I get it back, I'll take a look at it and see if I can figure out what's wrong. In the meantime, try using a larger hook and ignoring my gauge and see if that helps any. I'd love to hear back from you if you do try the hat again.

Hello Dot. Love your site.

Tried the Sassy hat today and something was way off. I did a gauge and it was dead on. Worked the hat and it was not wide enough nor deep enough. About 18 inches around and about 4 1/2 inches high. Oy...any thoughts? I used RH Super Saver and counted my stitches and rows very carefully.

I love the site though, you have a very creative mind!

Thanks, Ro. I like to think it is possessed in a good way, too. She had planned to make afghans to sell but I think she would be pleased that the yarn is being made into hats for chemo patients. Have fun with this pattern, I can't wait to see it when your done.

Dot,
What a wonderful story..not so spooky to me I'll bet that yarn really is possessed! In a good way of course.
I love this hat, I hope to give it a try over the weekend. I think I like it both ways...with the brim and without. I may have to just try it twice.
Nice job.
