SHORT ROUND PONCHO
copyright © 10/09/04 Dot Matthews
Round Ponchoround poncho full circle

10/14/04 Pattern tested by Chelle of Luv 2 Crochet and corrections have been made. Thank you, Chelle. You're the best!

Hi Brenda, I'd love to give you an answer, but I need to know what poncho you are working on so I can see the instructions for myself.

Hello, I am working on a poncho and I don't understand some of the instructions. One in particular involves the neck trim. It's asking me to turn the poncho around and work in the free loop. What does that mean? Can you simplify the answer so that I can understand please? Thank you so much in advance.

Thank you, Marce. You've really taken on a huge project for a new crocheter. Nothing shows up bold in these comment sections, so if you will email me I'll see if I can explain it to you. I'm hoping you understand most of what you wrote. Email me at bythehook7647 at yahoo dot com

I really like your website

I am a new crocheter and working on a dress I’d like to wear for a wedding.

I don’t understand some of the abbreviations in the pattern, and I was hoping you could help.

Can you help me translate the following bolded parts into layman’s terms please?

Row 3 *Sc in next sc, ch 7; rep from *, end sc in last sc, ch 3, dc in 3rd chain of t-ch. Ch 1 turn

Row 4 Sc in first dc, *ch3, sc in next ch-7 sp; rep from *, end ch 3, sc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 3, turn

Row 5 Skip first sc, *3 dc in ch-3 sp, dc in next sc; rep from * to end (t-ch 3 at beg counts as 1 dc). Ch 1, turn.

Thanks in advance!!

How can I size the baby round poncho for a toddler size 4? Kind of new at crochet. Would I just increase the beginning row of chain stitches? If so by approx how many?

Hi Shelle, the ponytail hat seems to be pretty popular for the young girls. My granddaughters just loved theirs. It was my very first design. Good luck with Crochet Cabin. I wish you well in your endeavor. Thanks for adding me to your favorites. Now I feel special!

Love all your designs! Thanks for the free pattern. I'm going to make my grand-daughter the ponytail hat right away! I just opened a shop - Crochet Cabin, featuring ponchos, shawls, sweaters, etc.. and giving lessons, too! We have so much fun! I'm so glad young people are taking an interest in crochet. Nowadays it's Hip to be Square! Thanks again, Dot. I've added you to my Favorites list!! :)

Hi, Sutty, the poncho with attached wimple is still stuck in my head. I have no idea if it will ever work it's way out of my head and off my hook. Writing patterns is a lot harder than I ever thought it would be, but I have found that I enjoy it very much.
