:) Good news...I finished writing the pattern!

I have to put it down for now because I'm so frustrated with myself, but I'll get back to it as soon as I make something for the babies. I NEED GRATIFICATION AND I NEED IT NOW!

I took my grandson to Walmart yesterday so he could spend the money his dad gave him. So, while I was there anyway, I decided to check out the yarn. It's OK, cause I'm just going to LOOK right? Right? Right? WRONG...

I've agonized for 2 days over what exactly is a button and how the heck do you make one. I searched the web and I read and read and read, and guess what! I still don't know what a button is or how to make one. Soooo, I made one anyway. It's kinda small but here it is.

I guessed that a button was simply a very small picture advertising a web site or a blog or making some statement or another. I guessed that you could attach a link to it so you could "push" the button to get somewhere. Mine's not linked to anything but feel free to use it if you want to link back to me. I guess that's how it works.

Had an idea for a hat that would be totally my own creation, not based on anyone else's pattern. I even have a name for it. Three hours and one nap later, I almost have a hat and a pattern to go with it. I can't quite figure out how to make the brim...I know what I want but just can't figure out how to make it look right. I'll keep working on it and as soon as I have it I'll post the pictures and the pattern.

Finished the "Little Bit of Funk" hat, my version. These are all pictures of the same hat at different angles. The first 2 show the color more accurately. The hat was made holding 3 strands of worsted weight cotten together, 1 verigated, 1 light blue, and one tan. Gives it quite a nice tweedy effect.

I've spent most of this day reading the blogdrive forum, trying to learn more about using this site. I'm blown away by how easy it is to use this site and the number of great features it offers...FREE. I figured out how to add that nifty little "tag board" that acts like a chat room. Now if I only knew how to use it I'd be ever so happy.

I used an H hook and WW yarn. And 2 Small rubber bands

Rnd 1) make 18 sc around a rubber band, join in back loop of first sc.

NOTE: beginning ch 3 counts as 1st dc.

Rnd 2) working in back loop only for this round, ch 3, 1 dc in same space as join, 2 dc in each st, around, join (total sts = 36)

Rnd 3) ch 3, dc in same space as join, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) repeat around, join
(total sts = 54)

Rnd 4 - 8 ) ch 3, dc in each st.around, join (total sts for each round = 54)

Rnd 9 - 13) ch 1, sc in each st around, join

Rnd 14) ch 2, sl st in next st, * ch 2, sk next st, sl st in next st* repeat from * around, join
Fasten off and weave in ends.

POOF at the top of the hat:

These stitches are worked in the unworked loops of round one.

Attach yarn in any unworked loop of round one.

(Ch 10, sl st in same stitch) 3 times

sl st in next st, (ch 10, sl st in same stitch) 3 times. Continue around, having 3 ch 10’s and 4 sl sts in each stitch.

If you want a fuller “poof” do 4 chain 10’s instead of 3 in each stitch. If you want a bigger “poof”, chain 15 or 20 instead of 10.

I have messed around with blogs for so long now I have just about quit crocheting, and sharing my crocheting and writing about it was why I wanted a blog in the first place. I know absolutely nothing about this but I'm going to try. I want to post pictures and talk about crocheting. I have written one pattern that I want to share and I want a place people can comment back to me about my entries, if they want to. I hope this is the place...we'll see.
