A BREAK FROM BABY CLOTHES

TA DAAAA! My very own shawl. Made from Seraphina's pattern. I left off the fringe (too lazy to do it) and put a tie on the front so I could, well, uh, you know, tie it closed. I wish I had made it larger but it keeps my shoulders warm and that's what I wanted it for.

I love this pattern and she did an amazing job trying to make it clear enough for anyone to do. She must have spent hours and hours taking all those pictures and editing them so they would be just right. Thank you Doni.

PATTERN LINKS

I am so bad about adding links to the patterns I use when I post pictures of my projects. I will try to do better in the future, but in the meantime, here's the url to the site where I got the sweater pattern. It's called "Lacy Sweater" and I've made it for both boys and girls. The pattern is on the FreePattern.com website and can be found under wearables in the crochet section. You will have to sign up to get into this site but it's free and I think it's well worth the trouble of signing up. There are lots and lots of patterns here. Anyway, here's the link to the site...

A FASHION STATEMENT

I'm so proud of me. I finished 2 WIPS, Kylie's and Krysten's sweaters. Of course, it's 90 degrees outside so they won't be able to wear them, but doggone it! I finished them.

This is Kylie's sweater. Looks kinda dull and lifeless here, doesn't it? But it looks really cute on her. I hope it still fits her this winter.

Here's Krysten's sweater. Hers is done in two colors. I let her pick from my stash and this is what she chose.

I call Krysten's sweater a "fashion statement." It speaks to me. Can't you just hear it?
It's saying...

OMG! I ran out of yarn!!!!

BABY THINGS

I feel like I haven't done anything until I go back and look in my box of finished things. I've managed to complete a few more baby items since my last post.

This is a diaper shirt, booties and a ruffled diaper cover. They're separate patterns I put together as a set. All the patterns can be found on the web (someplace). I just don't know where right now. I don't know what's wrong with me, I keep telling myself to keep up with those urls so I can share them and I keep losing them. Sorry.

This is a cute little preemie dress and 3 hats that would look great with the dress.

This next outfit is a onsie, with matching bonnet and booties. I would love to see a baby in these outfits.

I just love making baby things. I've got so many done now I really need to gather them all up and take them to the hospital. Maybe I'll get that done sometime next month.

TODDLER SIZE DOUBLE CROSSED HAT

HI JENN! This one's for you! Thanks for asking.

"Jenn » ...I was thinking the double crossed. I really like the brim on it. Seems it would work great for a toddler who will be out in the sun."

CHECK IT OUT! I used a H hook and 1 strand ww cotten and followed the pattern exactly as written. The finished hat measures 16". A larger hook will produce a larger hat.

BABY BOY OUTFIT

Baby Boy Sweater Set

This is the "Going Home Sweater Set" by Lyn's Designs. Her site might be down for construction but keep checking back because she has a lot to see there. Both the sweater and the hat patterns are easy to follow and worked up very fast. I plan to use them both again. I designed the pants myself and will have the pattern posted later (too lazy to type it out right now). You can get a closer look at the buttons, the hat, and the pants if you check out my finished projects. Just click on the link and it will take you there.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME (take 2)

...entry edited to fix font

Might be a chrysanthemum (dag! I hate trying to spell that).
A friend from my favorite forum,
Crochet, (Hi, SienaAK ) was having a problem making a rose for her doily. She said, it produced something otherworldly - like big gigantic chrysanthemums - not tiny roses!" So, I decided to try making one myself to help her out. **not only am I a blatant show off, I'm a hopeless buttinsky, too.** Anyhow...I spent most of yesterday putting a picture tutorial together to try to show step by step how to make a rose.

I actually did it twice, once using white thread that turned out a tiny rose, good for applicques but not for tutorials. So I did a second one in lavender and red to get good contrast for details in the pictures.

FONT FRUSTRATION!

I am so... *thinking real hard here, looking for a substitute for pissed off, nope, can't find one*...pissed off with this blog. I can't get the fonts to all be the same and I'm sure it's something simple but I can't see it. I'm just about this far () from changing layouts. Only thing stopping me is if I mess it up any more, I'll quit. I'm thinking I can change layouts and not lose anything, but that was me thinking that messed up the font in the first place.

Gone to crochet! At least I know how to do that.

Hot off the Hook

This worked up so much cuter than what the pattern shows

Closeup of the flower I added for interest.

Outfit modeled by Lissi

The dress looked lonely, so I made a bonnet to match. I was surprised by  how life-like my Lissi doll is when I dressed her up and sat her in the crib.

This whole outfit is very easy to make and works up fairly fast. I'll add a link to the pattern(s) later.

The yarndevil made me do it

I can't believe it. I needed to replace the filter on the air conditioner yesterday and since I needed a couple things from the grocery store, I decided to pick it up there. I searched that store over and finally asked the manager where they kept the filters. Guess what? They don't sell those, "sorry honey". CRAP! OK, no problem, I'll just run into Walmart, get the filters, and run right back out again. OK, I got the run in down pat. It's the running right back out I mess up on. See, I'm in here anyway, so I might as well just look in the yarn department. No problems, not much to see. Good. At the check out, my eyes are unglazing and I see myself hand over $45.00 to pay for the $3.00 pack of air filters, I look at the basket and am totally amazed to see all the yarn that somehow just appeared there. Oh, well, since it's in the cart anyway...
The Yarndevil made me do it.
