NATASHA - ANSWER TO EMAIL

This is a SHOUT OUT to Natasha. I received your email but when I tried to reply I got a syntax error...there is something wrong with the address you left. I did not know of any other way to reply to your email, so I am posting this message to you.

You asked if you could translate my patterns and post them and my pictures to your site.

Please do not post my patterns or my pictures on your site. I am extremely flattered that you like them enough to want to translate them, but I am very stingy when it comes to having them posted any place else. If you want to post a link on your site to my site, that would be fine. I hope you will understand and comply with my wishes.

Thank you for asking.

BOWS AND ARROWS STOLE

BOWS AND ARROWS STOLE
Bows and Arrows front  Bows and Arrows Stole back
Copyright © 07/14/05 Dot Matthews

SKILL: Easy
Measurements: 72" by 19"
Size: Adult, one size fits most
Gauge: measured from widest part of shell across to the final dc in the bow st = 4"; 7 rows of shells = 5"

Hook size: K

Yarn: Bernat Baby Coordinates, sports weight; color Iced Mint, 2 6oz skeins, pattern used 785 yards. Yarn content is 75.2% acrylic, 22.2% acetate, 2.6% nylon

Supplies used: scissors, blunt needle, tape measure

Stitches used: chain, single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch; shell;

SHELL= (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in same stitch or space

Abbreviations: ch = chain; sc = single crochet; dc = double crochet; sl st = slip stitch; tog = together; ea = each; st(s) = stitch(es); sk = skip; sp = space

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
At end of each row, turn without making any chains. Now, instead of the traditional ch 3 for the first stitch, do a single crochet in first stitch, ch 1. The single crochet and ch 1 count as the first stitch of the round. This makes a very neat straight edge without the gaps that you normally see in a dc project.

INSTRUCTIONS

ROW 1: ch 202, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea remaining st across. Turn

ROW 2: sc in first st, ch 1, dc in next sc, *sk next 2 scs, shell in next sc, sk next 2 scs, dc in next sc, ch 5, sk next 5 scs, dc in next st. Repeat from * across. End with sk next 2 scs, shell in next sc, sk next 2 scs, dc in last 2 scs. Turn (17 shells and 16 ch-5 sps)

TIP: Shell in next shell = place stitches in the ch-2 space of the shell

ROW 4: sc in first dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *shell in next shell, sk next 3 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, sc around ch-5's of last 2 rows, ch 2, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across. End with shell in next shell, sk next 3 dc, dc in next dc, dc in ch 1. Turn (17 shells and 16 bows)

TIP: I call the stitches made by sc around the chains of the previous 2 rows a bow

ROW 5: repeat row 3

ROW 6: repeat row 3

ROW 7: repeat row 4

ROWS 8 thru 25: repeat rows 5, 6, and 7

TIP: To make a wider stole, continue repeats of row 5, 6, and 7 until stole is as wide as you want.

EDGING

Work in ends of rows and around the posts of the stitches

ROW 1:
first short edge: ch 1, 2 sc in ea st across to next corner.
first long edge: 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in ea st across to next corner, 3 sc in last st.
second short edge: 2 sc in ea st across to next corner. ch 1

POINTED EDGE: *sc in next 4 sts, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in ch-2 sp of shell, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp, sk next sc, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * across long edge, 2 sc in last st.

PATTERN CORRECTION: DOT'S LITTLE DITTY BAG

Thanks to Teresa, aka Yarnlover66, from Crochetville, for reporting the errors I made in Dot's Little Ditty Bag. I left out part of round 23 and had instructions there that should have been a new round. I added the missing information, made a new round 24, and changed the old round 24 to round 25.

If you've printed out the pattern, please make note of the corrections, or reprint it. For those of you who've already made this bag, I don't think the error will be noticable on your finished project.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience. I really do try not to make errors.

Thank you again, Teresa, I really appreciate you letting me know about the error.

EBAY UPDATE

Both Ebay listings have ended and neither poncho sold. I've been told I might do better to wait until colder weather or closer to Christmas, so instead of just giving up completely, I'm going to post them again as soon as it turns cold. Told you I'm a glutton for punishment.
