Thanks to MammaChelle of Luv to Crochet the Short Round Poncho has been corrected. Ta Daa!!!

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw what MammaChelle had done with my pattern, I was so amazed. She took a K hook and baby dk yarn and presto chango had a poncho that fits her 18 month old daughter. WOW! She said she followed the pattern and made no changes, well, except to correct my boo boo's. Thanks MammaChelle. You should see her little girl modeling this poncho. I can now honestly say that this poncho fits sizes 12 month all the way through 3x. Where else are you going to find a pattern that can say that?

Made a couple changes to the way the side panel looks. It was getting very cluttered, so I categorized my patterns. I separated the patterns into three headings, hats, ponchos and miscellaneous. I can't believe I have enough patterns that I have to categorize them.

I deleted my first CROCHET bythehook button because it looked so pale compared to the one Donna made me so some of you might be getting a red x instead of my button. Sorry, I didn't mean to mess anyone up.

No new patterns to post, but I'm almost finished with a new poncho. I have no idea how I will ever be able to write up the pattern. This poncho has taken on a life of it's own and just keeps on going, like the energizer bunny. How do you all feel about a 5 page pattern?

Oh, I did purchase 3 months premium on PhotoBucket to keep my photos from turning into the red x boxes. I'll see what happens after 3 months.

I am FLABBERGASTED at the increase in traffic to my site since I added that one little word. I went from an average of around 200 hits a day to over 1,000 hits per day in one week's time. Thank you everyone who has visited, I appreciate your interest.
Just post that word somewhere on your site and watch the poncho pattern hunting frenzy start. It's amazing. Oh, it might help to put a pattern there too.

SHORT ROUND PONCHO

Materials: P hook; 2 - 6 oz skeins Lion Brand Homespun, color, Tudor
gauge: 1 row = 1" and 1 completed crossed bar stitch = 2"

Adult size: one size fits most up to 2x
Finished poncho measures 11 1/2 inches from neckline to hem. I made this poncho to serve as a bed jacket to keep my shoulders warm. If you want a longer poncho, keep adding rows until it is as long as you desire.

NOTE 1: do not count beginning chain as a stitch
NOTE 2: ch-1 space is not instructing you to do anything. It refers to the space made in the previous row by the chain 1.

SPECIALTY STITCHES:
Crossed Bar Stitch - yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo insert hook in next st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo draw thru all 5 loops on hook - crossed bar stitch made.
INC Cluster - yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook) yo, insert hook in same st, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook) yo, draw thru all 5 loops on hook - cluster made.

Materials: ww yarn, a little over 16 oz
K hook
Size: I'm guessing this will fit a child aged 10 to 12. 
Amount of yarn is approximate. I weighed the poncho after completion and it was a titch over 16 oz. I recycled a WIP and didn't have any labels to refer to.
Poncho is done in 2 panels that are each 16 ½ inches x 27 inches. 

Specialty stitch
Berry Stitch…Insert hook in st, pull up a loop, (yo, draw thru 1 loop on hook) 3 times, yo, draw thru last 2 loops on hook to complete.

Note 1: turning chains do not count as a stitch.
Note 2: numbers in ( ) at end of row depicts number of stitches for the row.
Note 3: count the ch-1 space as a stitch

Make 2 panels

ROW 1: ch 78, sc in 2nd st from hook, ch 1, sk 1, sc in next st across. (77 sts, count ch 1 spaces and sc's) Ch 1, turn

ROW 2: sc in each sc and in each ch-1 space across. (77 sts) Ch 2, turn

ROW 3: Hdc in first st, (ch 3, sk 3 sts, Hdc in next st) across. (19 ch-3 spaces) Ch 1, turn

ROW 4: sc in first st, (3 sc over ch-3 sp, sc in next st) across. (77 sts) Ch 1, turn

Fasten off and weave in ends. Assemble poncho by sewing narrow side to long side, fold into poncho shape and sew the other narrow side to the other long side.

Drawstring Baby Pants

There seems to be some problems at PhotoBucket, where I store my pictures and some or all of my pictures are not showing up here. Sure looks bad, doesn't it? Well, why not? I like ponchos and it's something I'll probably wear...or not. Anyway, just for a lark, I decided to see if I could do this. Making a poncho is a cinch (I told myself). What's so hard about this anyway? Making 2 rectangles is easy enough. Putting them together in the shape of a poncho...not easy at all. That's where I ran into trouble. I had no idea it would be so hard making ends meet. I finally had to put it away and sleep on it. Today I finally figured it out and I now have a poncho I'm OK with. As soon as I weave in the ends and add a trim, I'll post a picture.

If I never wear this poncho, I did learn something from making it. I made 2 rectangles that are both the same size on both ends. I can't believe this. I've never, ever, made a rectangle that didn't end up bigger on one end than the other. My rectangles are usually shaped like this / \ instead of this | |. Here's how I did it...

make a foundation chain the length called for in your pattern. Now, instead of working 1 stitch in each stitch across, I worked sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, skip one chain, sc in next chain, across, ending with a sc in last ch.

That's it. I then worked the 2nd row in every stitch, treating the chain 1 spaces just like they were a stitch. I was totally amazed at the results. The starting row was just as stretchy as the ending row and the whole thing was EVEN on both ends! What a discovery.
