I/9-5.50mm hook; blunt needle; scissors; stitch markers (optional)

PATTERN NOTES: This pattern was typed while watching Knot's Landing Reunion. Please let me know of any errors you find and I'll correct them.
When you see ** that is where you will end the last repeat of the round.
INSTRUCTIONS
ROUND 1: ch 2, 8 sc in first ch. Join in first sc. (8 sc)
ROUND 2: ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join, 2 sc in ea st around. Join in first sc. (16 sc)

ELEGANT LACE STOLE

YOU WILL NEED: J/10-6.00mm; K/10 ½-6.50 (optional for foundation chain)
approximately 15oz /720 medium weight yarn. Scissors and stitch markers
This project was made using Bernat Satin. A good substitute would be Caron Simply Soft.
With K hook, chain 194. Switch to J hook
ROW 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea ch across. (193 sc) turn
ROW 2: ch 1, sc in next 3 sc,

Sandy in cold B. C. Canada, if you see this, part of your email address is missing on the contact form you sent, so I can't reply to you by email.
She is making a Christmas afghan in a large granny square and is asking for ideas on color placement. The colors she's using are Cranberry, Hunter Green, Ecru, and a verigated with cranberry, hunter green and gold.
She has started the afghan using cranberry and now wants suggestions on placement of the other colors.
Try laying your skeins out side by side and playing with the color arrangement that way. This is what I would do cranberry, ecru, hunter green, verigated and then start over again.
Anyone else have any ideas for Sandy?

HAPPINESS IS A HERRSCHNER'S GIFT CERTIFICATE
The day before Thanksgiving, I opened my email to find a message from Herrschner's telling me that someone had purchased a gift certificate for me in the amount of... well let's just say it's huge. I didn't believe it was real at first, but later I got an email from the person who purchased it for me assuring me that it was real. Skeptic that I am, it took a couple more emails to convince me. OK, I'm convinced! Today, I spent several hours picking out goodies to buy, and as soon as it all gets here, I'll post pictures.
THANK YOU to a most generous online crochet buddy.
You are an angel and I can't thank you enough.

PUTTING OUT FIRES started by my copyright post
If you are signed up to be automatically notified when I update my site, then you were sent the information I posted about my copyright. I didn't realize that was going to be taken as a direct assault on the individuals who received the notice. I am truly sorry if you were upset when you got it.
I'm not declaring war on anyone. This is definitely not aimed at any individual at all. Just setting a policy so you know how I feel.
I love you all, so take a deep breath, calm down and relax. This is the season for stress I don't want to add to it.

I get a lot (ok a few) requests to sell items made from my patterns. I have mixed feelings on the subject. I know that what you make is yours and you should be able to do what you want with what you make, but, I feel like I'm being asked if it's OK to sell one of my children. I've thought about it for a long time and decided that I should have some written policies to clarify what my copyright means to me. So, the post titled COPYRIGHT INFORMATION is what I came up with. Please read the post before you sell anything made from my patterns.

GRACIE'S HOODED SCARF

YOU WILL NEED: Hook size: K/10 1/2–6.50MM
Approx. 10oz/556yds Red Heart Super Saver Yarn (worsted/medium/4)
this project made with Red Heart Super Saver Multicolor in 0317 Reef Stripe
STITCH LIST:
single crochet (sc); double crochet (dc); chain (ch); foundation single crochet (foundation sc); loop stitch. Instructions for doing the foundation sc and the loop stitch are at the end of the pattern.
OTHER ABBREVIATIONS:
each (ea); skip (sk); yarn over (yo); stitch (st)
GAUGE: 3 patterns (sc, dc, sk 1) = 2", 5 rows = 2"
INSTRUCTIONS
185 foundation sc, ch 1, turn.
Note: you can substitute ch 186, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end, ch 1, turn, for the foundations sc's.
ROW 1: (sc, dc) in first st,
*sk next st,
(sc, dc) in next st. Repeat from * to last 2 sts,
sk next st, sc in last st. ch 1, turn. (185 sts)
ROW 2 thru 17: Repeat row 1 – you will be skipping the dc's and placing stitches in the sc's.
At end of row 17, count 74 stitches from one end of scarf, place a marker in the 74th stitch. Do the same on the other end. The marked stitches and the stitches in between is where the looped stitches will go.
ROW 18: Repeat row 1 to the first marker.
insert hook in next st (with the marker),
with index finger of hand holding yarn, pull up a long loop about 1".
Keep your finger in the loop and place the hook behind the yarn and grab both strands of loop and pull thru st (you will have 3 loops on hook and your finger stuck in the loop), now slip your finger out of the loop and hold it (the loop, not your finger) down out of your way, yo pull yarn thru the 3 loops on hook. (loop st made) – move marker up to the loop st. Make a loop stitch in each stitch from marker to marker. move marker up to the last loop st made.
*sk next dc, (sc dc) in next st. Repeat from * to last 2 sts, sk next st, sc in last st.
ROW 19: Repeat row 2 to first marker
sc in st with marker – move marker up, sc in ea st to next marker, sc in st with marker – move marker up,
*sk next dc, (sc dc) in next st. Repeat from * to last 2 sts, sk next st, sc in last st.
ROW 20: Repeat row 18 (loop st row)
ROW 21: Repeat row 19
ROW 22: Repeat row 18
ROW 23: Repeat row 19
ROW 24: Repeat row 18
ROW 25: Repeat row 19
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Fold scarf in half with narrow ends together and right sides facing (loops are the right side of scarf). Starting at the fold, whip stitch a seam on the back of the scarf (side opposite of loops) about 10" or whatever is comfortable for you.
GRACIE'S SCARF - CHILD VERSION:
With J Hook, make 121 foundation sc.
or ch 122, sc in 2nd st from hook and in ea st across to end. (121 sts)
Follow pattern for adult scarf for 18 rows.
Fasten off
Place markers in the 40th st from ea end of scarf and make loop stitches in the spaces between the markers moving markers up as you go.
Follow pattern for adult scarf until you have 25 rows or scarf is as wide as you want.
fasten off and weave in ends.
FOUNDATION SC = ch 2, insert hook in first ch made, yo and pull yarn thru stitch (2 loops on hook)
yo and pull yarn thru ONE loop on hook (you just made a chain and there are still 2 loops left on hook, place a marker in that chain you just made so you will be able to see where to make the next foundation sc)
yo and pull yarn thru both remaining loops on hook (you just made a sc and have now completed your first foundation sc)
to make the next (and subsequent) foundation sc
insert hook in chain (stitch you placed the marker)
yo, pull yarn thru stitch, (2 loops on hook)
yo and pull yarn thru ONE loop on hook (chain made – place marker in chain)
yo, pull yarn thru 2 remaining loops on hook (sc made)
LOOP STITCH = insert hook in next stitch. With index finger of hand holding yarn, pull up a long loop (about 1"), keep your finger in the loop, put hook behind the loop and grab both strands of loop with hook and pull thru stitch (3 loops on hook) slip finger out of loop and hold the loop down against the scarf, yo and pull yarn thru the 3 loops on hook. (loop stitch made)

UPDATE: I'm working on writing up a pattern for this scarf right now and hope to have it ready to post by the end of the week.
How about just a show and tell for a change. I made this scarf yesterday for my granddaughter, Gracie, for Christmas. I'm not sure I'll write up a pattern for it. I don't know how to explain the loop stitch so I'm stumped on how to write the pattern.
It's made with Red Heart Super Saver, color 0317 Reef Stripe. Took just slightly more than a 6 oz skein.
